About Battle Creek Memorial Park
A Place of Dignity Since 1922
Battle Creek Memorial Park was founded in 1922 by Andrew Hebble with a vision of creating a perpetual care cemetery that would serve the community for generations. The first interment took place in 1926, and in 1944 the Park was entrusted to the Kiwanis Club of Battle Creek under the provisions of the Esther Hebble Memorial Trust.
For more than a century, the Park has remained an integral part of the community’s cultural and historical fabric.
Today, we continue that legacy of care, stewardship, and service.
Who We Are
Battle Creek Memorial Park Association is a private nonprofit cemetery corporation independently owned and operated as a service to the community.
The Park is governed by a Board of Directors elected through the Kiwanis Club of Battle Creek. While the Board operates privately, it is responsible for the long-term oversight, governance, and financial stewardship of the Association. Day-to-day operations are managed by a full-time professional staff dedicated to serving families with care and respect.
We serve people of all religious and ethnic backgrounds, providing a peaceful setting for remembrance and reflection. Families can explore available arrangement options when considering next steps.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide each family with the highest standard of care while offering quality cemetery property, services, and memorial options in a setting of dignity and peace.
Every decision — from grounds maintenance to memorial standards — is made with long-term preservation and family trust in mind.
Stewardship & Perpetual Care
Battle Creek Memorial Park was organized as a perpetual care cemetery. That commitment remains central to who we are.
The future care of the Park is secured through fully funded perpetual care trusts. A portion of each property sale and service fee is deposited into these professionally administered funds. Investment income ensures that the grounds, roadways, trees, and buildings continue to be maintained as the cemetery matures.
These trusts are managed by a commercial bank trust department and overseen in compliance with all applicable regulations.
Battle Creek Memorial Park remains financially self-sufficient and independent of local, state, or federal funding.
Our Grounds
The Memorial Park includes the main 86-acre property located southeast of the Territorial and Helmer Road intersection, along with Sunset Garden Cemetery across Helmer Road and additional undeveloped acreage reserved for the future.
The grounds are thoughtfully maintained to preserve both natural beauty and long-term integrity — ensuring that families may gather in a setting that is peaceful, orderly, and enduring.
A Commitment That Continues
For over 100 years, Battle Creek Memorial Park has served as a place where families come to remember, reflect, and honor those they love.
We are committed not only to preserving the past, but to ensuring that future generations will find the same dignity, stability, and care here for years to come. If you’re planning ahead or exploring options, you can review available memorial and arrangement options at any time.
